Casing Assist

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 8, 2026

Casing Assist ("we", "us") is an app for letter carriers. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and what choices you have. If you have a question, write to support@casingassist.com.

The short version

Casing (reading your mail)

While you case, the app uses your phone's camera to read the address on each piece you hold up. This happens entirely on your phone. The reading is done by Google's ML Kit on Android and Apple's Vision on iPhone. On Android, ML Kit sends Google basic technical information, such as your phone model, the app version, speed and error reports, and an identifier for this installation, to keep it working well. It never sends the images or the addresses it reads. Camera images of mail pieces are not stored and never leave your device. The route data the app compares them against is stored on your phone, so casing also works without a connection.

Setting up a route (photos of your case)

To set up a route, you photograph your carrier case. These photos are uploaded to our servers, together with the route you picked, your ZIP code, the case layout you chose, and the house numbers your phone read in the photos. We use them to build a digital version of your case: the house numbers, street names and resident or business names printed on the case labels, and where each one sits on the case. If the app asks you to check a label after setup, your answers are sent to us as well, to correct the case.

Address information we use

To help build and check cases, we use public information about delivery routes and addresses, such as the U.S. Postal Service's Every Door Direct Mail route data, county property records, and the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Address Database. This information is about addresses, not about you.

Your account

You sign in with your Google account or with Sign in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a private relay address instead of your real one. If you sign in with Google on iPhone, Google's sign-in software in the app may also collect some information of its own, such as your device's identifier and approximate location, under Google's privacy policy. When you create an account, we keep your email address and sign-in information, the routes you've set up, and the status of your subscription, so your routes follow you to a new phone and we can provide the plan you paid for. If you join with an invite from a coworker, we keep the invite code so we can credit both of you.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of your subscription and its status, but never your card or bank details.

Information about other people

Case labels show the names of people and businesses on your route. We store these only as part of the case, to help you case mail, and we don't use them for anything else.

Service providers

We use a small number of companies to run the service: Cloudflare (hosting and storage, in the United States), Anthropic (reading case photos), and Apple and Google (app distribution and payments). They handle information only to provide their service to us.

Your choices

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people who run Casing Assist.

Children

Casing Assist is a work tool for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
